Martinis, Sinatra and Pan-Am flight crews!

On Saturday, August 25, 2012, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center at Jackson Hall will be transformed back to the early 1960s to create a magical and theatrical evening for this year’s TPAC Gala. 

Promoting the hit Broadway musical, "Catch Me If You Can," the 2012 Gala Co-Chairs, Bob Deal, Jason Bradshaw and Theresa Menefee, along with the talented TPAC logistical team, plan for attending patrons to be transported, intrigued and captivated by the decor, costumes, food and entertainment that will all be inspired from the Kennedy era. 

A very special musical performance by Broadway veteran, Aaron Tveit (as "Catch Me If You Can" leading man, Frank Abagnale, Jr., and currently starring in the musical movie adaptation of  "Les Miserables" as Enjorlras) will round out the thematic evening.

So, if you are wanting a night of martinis, Sinatra, Pan-Am flight crews, coiffed beauties and dinner-jacketed gentlemen, come to this year’s Gala and be a part of this special event which proceeds support TPAC Education for Nashville's youth.

Local Girl Makes Great, Lindsey Bliven - Part 2

When last we left Hendersonville-native, Lindsey Bliven, she was telling us what it felt like to return to TPAC's stage door as part of the touring production of "Mary Poppins." In part two of our conversation, we take Lindsey into Andrew Jackson Hall to hear what she remembers seeing at TPAC when she was younger.

Andrew Jackson Hall is one of the biggest (and best according to many touring artists) performance spaces in Tennessee.   Empty, the stage (131’ x 71’) could hold four Lear jets or the Space Shuttle (with one wing hanging over the first two rows).

 Here’s a few more fun facts about the technical workings of the stage:

• 2.5 miles of rope in our fly rail system, which allows set pieces, curtains, etc. to drop in and fly out of sight again.
• 15,000 pounds of stage weights for counter balance fly system
• 4,000 yards of soft goods fabric (curtains, and stage masking
• More than 700 lighting instruments
• 80 microphones (of various types) 
• 120 musicians chairs
• 5 pianos
